Ambisonic Sound Installation

In Landscape with Changes, there are no loops, no exact repetitions of any kind—it is a landscape continually reinventing itself, yet, somehow, always recognizably the same. Using custom software designed by Alex Stephenson, waves of resonant harmonies are continually generated in real time, gently ebbing, flowing, and swirling around the audience.

Landscape with Changes began as an online installation in 2021 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic; it has also been presented in an in-person gallery format using multichannel sound spatialization. Collaborators in previous realizations of the installation include video artist Anqi Liu and lighting designer Jessica C. Flores.

Audience members are invited to come and go and can experience the environment whenever and for however long they like.
